Sky Deutschland teams up with Telefónica for Sky Ticket
Pay TV operator Sky Deutschland has teamed up with Telefónica to make its Sky Ticket OTT TV offering available over the latter’s network in Germany.
The deal means that Telefónica’s O2 Free customers will be able to sign up for Sky Ticket from January 17, in time for the second round of the current Bundesliga football season.
O2 Free customers will be able to purchase day, week and month-long passes for sports as well as monthly passes for movies and entertainment offerings.
New O2 Free customers that sign up for the operator’s M, L or XL offerings before the end of March will receive the Sky Entertainment or Movies monthly pass for free for the first six months. They can also receive a daily sports pass, which provides access to Bundesliga and Champions League football as well as EHF Champions League handball, once a month. Existing O2 contract customers can sign up once a month for a daily sports pass for the discounted price of €4.99 instead of €9.99.
The Sky Cinema monthly pass normally costs €14.99, while the Entertainment pass costs €9.99.
Holger Enßlin, managing director, legal, regulator and distribution for Sky Deutschland said that the partnership would enable “Sky to reach “even more customers” with its Sky Ticket offering, allowing “flexibile and immediate access to exclusive Sky programming”.
