Twitter reportedly considering bids for Vine

Twitter has reportedly been approached by a number of potential buyers for Vine, the video sharing service it announced it was shutting down a week ago.

According to Techcrunch, citing unnamed sources, Twitter has been approached by a number of potential buyers and could strike a deal soon.

According to the report, Twitter has received approaches from Asia among a large number of bids for the service. The technology news site reported that Twitter has narrowed the number of bidders it is considering to five.

Twitter said on October 27 that it would shut down Vine in several months’ time, but added that users would still be able to access and download content until in the meantime. Vine allows content creators to upload six-second video clips which can be viewed via a mobile app.

Twitter said at the time that it would focus its video efforts on streaming via its Periscope service and premium deals with partners including the NFL.
