Inmarsat appoints Rolls-Royce exec as COO
Satellite operator Inmarsat has appointed Rolls-Royce executive Jason Smith to the role of chief operations officer (COO).
Smith replaces Ruy Pinto, who is leaving after a long career at the company to pursue new interests, according to Inmarsat.
He joins from Rolls-Royce where he was most recently president of the group’s nuclear business. Before that he was COO for the nuclear business, and president of the company’s submarine business.
“Jason’s appointment underlines our commitment to accelerating the development of new capabilities at Inmarsat; ensuring that our customers and partners have access to the most advanced, efficient and effective high-speed connectivity solutions on land, sea and air,” said Inmarsat CEO, Rupert Pearce.
Smith said: “I am excited by the opportunity to lead this global operations team and in playing a part in ensuring that Inmarsat continues to be a strong, growing business.”
