Comcast Ventures appoints Tinder co-founder
Comcast’s venture capital arm has appointed the co-founder of dating app Tinder, Dinesh Moorjani, as managing director.
Moorjani, who is a serial entrepreneur, senior operating executive and seed investor, will join Comcast Ventures, based in Santa Monica.
“We are building a team of smart, proven investors with knowledge and success across a variety of sectors. Dinesh brings unique experience that bridges later stage private equity transactions with an accomplished track record of angel investments and will be an excellent addition to our team,” said Amy Banse, managing director and head of funds at Comcast Ventures.
Moorjani previously worked as executive-in-residence at Warburg Pincus where he continues to serve as an advisor.
Before this he founded and was CEO of Hatch Labs, where he and his team built and and ran mobile startups – including Tinder. He has also held leadership roles at IAC/InteractiveCorp and Samsung Electronics.
“Comcast Ventures has built a unique investment platform, as evidenced by its strong portfolio and reputation. I’m looking forward to working with the team to invest in promising technologies and help entrepreneurs build successful companies,” said Moorjani.
Comcast Ventures has previously invested in firms including virtual reality broadcast specialist, NextVR. This summer it also contributed to a US$2.5 million seed round raised by virtual reality studio Kite & Lightning.
