Wuaki.tv launches on Roku players in UK and Ireland
Rakuten-owned OTT TV service provider Wuaki.tv has launched on Roku streaming players in the UK and Ireland.
The Wuaki.tv channel allows consumers to rent or purchase popular TV shows and movies, with current titles including recent blockbusters such as Deadpool, The Revenant and Spotlight as well as TV shows such as Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad.
Wuaki.tv is now available as part of Roku’s selection of UK streaming channels including YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Video, Now TV, Sky Store, Google Play, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 and My5.
Users can rent or purchase movies and TV shows directly on their Roku streaming player from €4,99 or £4.49.
“Welcoming Wuaki.tv to the Roku streaming platform in both UK and Ireland enriches the content offering for these countries with some of the most talked about TV shows and movies. Wuaki.tv offers each country a localized and diverse catalogue movies and TV shows from all major studios,” said Ed Lee, vice president of content acquisition at Roku.
“Our goal is to get Wuaki.tv on all popular connected TV platforms, which clearly includes Roku,” said Sidharth Jayant, global product director at Rakuten Wuaki.tv. “Since the launch of Wuaki.tv we have seen tremendous growth in these markets. There is strong demand for streaming content.”
