Vodafone Spain confirms 4K UHD TV service for bars
Vodafone Spain has launched its planned 4K UHD TV service aimed at bars, restaurants and other public premises, offering coverage of Spanish La Liga football, among other sports content.
During the 2016-17 football season, subscribers to the operator’s Vodafone One Restauración offering will be able to use the services to show one La Liga match per day in 4K UHD from Canal LaLiga TV and one Champions League match from BeIN Sports.
Participating businesses will need a 4K screen or projector, and Vodafone is offering, in partnership with LG, a promotional offer to purchase a 55-inch LG 55UH615V over 24 months interest-free.
Clients will also need access to an internet connection at speeds of at least 50Mbps via fibre or cable.
The offering includes access to 80 channels, including all first and second division Spanish football, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, France’s Ligue 1 and Italy’s Serie as well as Belgian, German and other football, tennis, cycling and skiing. The 24-hours Le Mans motorsports race and the African Cup of Nations football tournament will also be available via Eurosport 1 and 2.
Vodafone’s announcement confirms an earlier report by the Expansión newspaper that it planned to launch such as service, amidst expectations among the country’s leading service providers that the bars and restaurants sector would see strong growth this year. Expansión said that Vodafone expected this market segement to grow by about 30%.
