Netflix launches internet speed test app

Netflix has launched its fast.com internet speed test service as an app for Android and Apple mobile devices.

The FAST mobile app is able for free from the Google Play and Apple App Stores and lets users click to find out how fast, in Megabits per second, their mobile or broadband connection is.

Netflix first rolled out the web version of the service in May, in a bid to provide a “quick and simple way for any internet user to test their current internet speed, whether they are a Netflix member or not”.

The subscription video-on-demand service also publishes a monthly ISP Speed Index report in which it lists and ranks the internet service providers by average connection speeds in the markets where Netflix is live.
