Switzerland tops Netflix’s July ISP Speed Index
Switzerland’s ImproWare was the fastest internet service provider in Europe in July with average monthly speeds of 4.30 Mbps, according to Netflix’s ISP Speed Index.
The monthly report found that Austria was the second fastest European internet market with Liwest providing average speeds of 4.21 Mbps. The service provider overtook Kabelplus as the fastest operator in this market in July.
Belgium came in third place with Proximus retaining its lead there, offering average speeds of 4.03 Mbps. Meanwhile in the Netherlands, Europe’s number four market, Caiway was top with speeds of 4.02 Mbps.
Number five European market, Denmark, continued to see a lot of movement in the rankings, with Stofa Bredband taking second place with an average monthly speed of 3.90 Mbps and Trefor jumping three spots to number three with speeds of 3.86 Mbps. YouSee Cable kept its top spot with speeds of 4.00 Mbps.
The UK came in the bottom half of the European scoreboard with fastest operator Virgin Media managing average speeds of 3.72 Mbps.
Netflix says that its ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network.
It added that faster Netflix performance generally means “better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions”.
