Vodafone sees fixed line growth
Vodafone has seen its TV subscriber base in Spain grow by 52,000, despite seasonal pressures due to the end of the football season, while in Germany cable arm KDG accounted for the bulk of 108,000 additional broadband subscribers.
Group revenue for the second quarter declined by 4.5% to €13.377 million, largely due to exchange movements. Service revenues increased in Germany despite a decline in mobile service revenues.
Vodafone said its long-delayed UK TV service was currently in field trials.
“We continued to make good progress during the first quarter. In Europe, our growth remains stable despite regulatory pressure on roaming revenue, with good performance in Germany, Spain and Italy while we are focussed on improving our performance in the UK. Our growth momentum in AMAP remains strong, with excellent performance in South Africa, Turkey and Egypt and ongoing recovery in India. Customers in multiple markets are attracted by our ‘more-formore’ commercial offerings of larger data bundles and extra services, while we are seeing continued success with our fixed broadband and enterprise strategies,” said CEO Vittorio Colao.
