Multimedia Polska launches TV everywhere service
Polish cable operator Multimedia Polska has begun testing a TV everywhere service, Multimedia Go.
According to the operator, it aims to provide the service to all subscribers by the end of this year, with access available to all channels in their packages.
Currently, 117 channels are available via the service, including 35 HD and 82 SD services. Multimedia Go is available to view on computers, smartphones and tablets.
The service includes catch-up functionality, allowing users to access programmes up to seven days after their initial broadcast on linear TV. Multimedia Go also includes network DVR recording, as well as access to the operator’s video-on-demand library and SVoD service Strefa Dzieci (Kids Zone).
Multimedia Polska director of strategy and development Bartłomiej Kasiński said that he was convinced that the catch-up and nDVR functionality of the service would attract great interest from subscribers. He said that the operator had to surmount numerous challenges to launch the service, including challenging negotiations with rights-holders. While not all channels are currently available, Kasiński said that “the first step has been taken” and more would be added in the future.
