Al Jazeera creates new digital division
Al Jazeera Media Network has created a new digital division under corporate strategy chief Yaser Bishr to oversee development across all digital products, services and platforms.
Bishr, executive director for corporate strategy and development at the broadcaster, was appointed to head up the new unit by acting director-general Mostefa Souag. Bishr previously led various digital projects for Al Jazeera including the development and launch of AJ+.
Al Jazeera said that digital service AJ+’s English-language version had seen four billion views since its launch in 2014. Al Jazeera recently soft-launched AJ+ Arabi, which has attracted over 55 million views so far, according to the broadcaster.
