Liberty Global reportedly close to acquiring Multimedia Polska
Liberty Global is close to acquiring Polish cable operator Multimedia Polska, according to local reports.
According to the Puls Biznesu newspaper, citing multiple unnamed soruces, Liberty Global’s talks to acquire Multimedia Polska are at an advanced stage.
A deal would give Liberty Global, which is already present in the country through its ownership of UPC Poland, a share of the cable market of about 50%, with 2.2 million customers and revenues of about PLN2.2 billion.
UPC Poland previously came close to striking a deal to acquire Multimedia Polska three years ago.
Any deal would require the approval of regulator the UOKiK. The regulator previously obliged UPC to sell part of the network in Warsaw and Krakow of Aster Cable after it acquired that operator in 2012.
