MTS begins satellite TV marketing push
Russian fixed and mobile service provider MTS has begun a major marketing push for its satellite TV offering, targeting rural areas and settlements where there is a lack of terrestrial infrastructure.
The company is offering reception wquipment for free to differentiate its service and encourage take-up. The marketing campaign features adverts with red parachutes dropping from the sky, symbolizing MTS’s red satellite dishes and will also involve internet, radio, outdoor advertising and advertising at retail outlets.
MTS satellite project director Alexey Ivanov said that MTS was the only satellite operator to provide coverage of all Russia from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok from a single orbital position.
Director of marketing communications Natalia Glagoleva said that the service would offer 128 popular channels across the country, including 32 in HD.
