IPTV growth takes global total past 130m

IPTV is still growing strongly, with double-digit growth in markets including Spain, Brazil and Turkey over the last 24 months helping push the global total to over 130 million subscribers, according to Point Topic.

According to the research group, quarterly growth rates have gone up in all regions except North America, where the change in technology focus of such large providers as AT&T had a significant impact. AT&T saw its IPTV subscribers decline by 4.1% quarter on quarter due to a continued focus on satellite TV services, according to Point Topic.

East Asia continued to be at the top of Point Topic’s regional ratings, with more net additions and higher growth rates than anywhere else.
