Eutelsat signs DTH deal with Africa’s Liquid Telecom
Eutelsat has signed a deal with African telco Liquid Telecom, which will use the Eutelsat 7B satellite for direct-to-home (DTH) TV services across the African continent.
Liquid Telecom’s satellite network will complement its pan-African terrestrial network and enable it to provide a “seamless services across Africa”, according to Eutelsat.
The operator will also use the capacity to connect a growing number of enterprise customers located in areas where fibre is not available. Liquid Telecom is an independent provider of data, voice and IP services across Africa and powers Africa’s largest new pay TV provider, KweséTV.
“Broadcast still plays a massive part in the satellite business and we are extremely pleased to have secured this important contract, which will allow the launch of a new large scale broadcast offering,” said Liquid Telecom’s group managing executive of Satellite and VSAT, Scott Mumford.
