RTL Deutschland launches new free-to-air channel
RTL Deutschland has launched a new free-to-air channel focusing on general entertainment.
RTL Plus will be headed by Jan Peter Lacher, who will continue in his current role as senior vice-president of programme planning at RTL Television. He will report to RTL television programming managing director Frank Hoffmann in both roles.
The German channel will offer a range of shows including Bauer sucht Frau (The Farmer Wants a Wife), Dr. Stefan Frank, Hinter Gittern – Der Frauenknast (Behind Bars – The Women’s Prison), Einsatz in 4 Wänden (Home DIY Challenge), Doppelter Einsatz (Double Deployment), Monk and Nikola.
Daytime content on the channel will include documentary formats like Mein Baby (My Baby) and Unsere erste gemeinsame Wohnung (Our First Shared Flat) as well as the justice shows Das Jugendgericht (Juvenile Court), Das Strafgericht (Criminal Court) and Das Familiengericht (Family Court).
RTL Plus will also offer exclusive homegrown productions including new episodes of Familienduell (Family Duel) and Jeopardy.
