Canal Digital agrees channels deal with Turner
Nordic pay TV platform Canal Digital has agreed a new carriage deal for Turner’s channels.
The deal gives Canal Digital continued carriage of the CNN, TNT, Cartoon Network and Boomerang, Canal Digital services.
The new agreement also covers a swathe of archive and fresh content from the Turner channels that the pay TV platform can make available on its on-demand and digital services.
Canal Digital will make these available on-demand in the first half of this year.
“We have also gotten access to complete seasons of shows that can be viewed whenever and where ever our customers’ desire,” said Ragnar Kårhus, CEO at Telenor Broadcast and Canal Digital.
He added: “We know that more and more people watch TV in this manner. Turner’s wide selection of movies, drama series and kids content will be a great addition to our customer offering.”
The on-demand offering will include Cartoon Network shows Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball and Ben 10. From TNT there will be Falling Skies and Angie Tribeca.
Ian McDonough, SVP & MD, Turner, UK & Northern Europe said the company is taking a more consumer-centric approach to the distribution of channels and content.
“This means concentrating our efforts around the hugely popular global channel brands within our portfolio, whilst seamlessly delivering through partners like Canal Digital a branded and editorialised on demand experience for fans of our content,” he said.
