CanalSat launch for Sundance in France
The international Sundance Channel will launch on the Canalsat platform France this week.
Sundance Channel Global will launch tomorrow (February 9) and have indie films, and original dramas from the US AMC and Sundance cable nets including The Walking Dead and Rectify.
On CanalSat it will be in the pay TV operator’s Series and Cinema package. Sundance is already carried on other pay platforms in France, but CanalSat is the largest pay TV operator in the country and means Sundance is now available to 18 million French homes.
Jean-Marc Juramie, vice president, content & programming at CanalSat said: “Sundance Channel is a highly attractive brand with an outstanding selection of high quality independent films and exclusive series for our subscribers and filmfans.”
Ed Palluth, executive VP, global distribution, AMC Networks International, added: “AMC Networks International’s services continue to experience rapid growth, and we’re looking forward to further supporting the development of the pay-TV industry in France and around the world.”
The French carriage deal comes soon after the news that AMC’s international channels boss Bruce Tuchman is exiting. AMC is not expected to make a direct replacement.
The AMC Networks International portfolio includes Sundance, AMC, WeTV, IFC and the channels formerly run by Chellomedia, which AMC acquired in 2013.
