Discovery bolsters sports team in Norway

Discovery Networks Norway has reinforced its team with the promotion of Jan-Erik Aalbu to sporting director.

The move means Aalbu joins Discovery’s local management team. The former chief editor will now report to Discovery Networks Norway CEO Harald Stramme.

Discovery Networks Norway owns channels such as TV Norge, Max and Eurosport Norway.

Aalbu’s promotion comes soon after Discovery secured broadcast rights to the Norwegian football league for six years from 2017.

Discovery Networks International last year secured rights to the Olympic Games in Europe from 2018, not long after taking control of Eurosport.
