Mediaset Spain taps Accedo for Mitele smart TV launch

Mediaset España has partnered with TV app specialist Accedo to launch its recently-released over-the-top (OTT) TV service, Mitele, on Samsung smart TVs.

The Samsung deployment will be powered by Accedo’s AppGrid app management solution and is due to launch “ahead of this year’s holiday season” with more device rollouts planned for next year.

Mitele went live in Spain on December 3, offering TV series, news and a dedicated channel for reality series Big Brother. The service was designed to compile Mediaset Spain’s most popular TV content in high definition and was developed using the Accedo VIA Development Kit.

“It was particularly important to us to launch Mitele on Samsung smart TVs ahead of the holiday season when most people have more time to watch,” said Jorge Martín Ibarra, development director, Mediaset España.
