UKTV launching three channels on Freesat

UK multichannel programmer UKTV is to launch three of its channels on free-to-view satellite platform Freesat, marking a significant shift in the company’s platform strategy.

Factual channel Yesterday, entertainment service Drama and female-focused reality channel Really will be available on the satellite service from later this month, bringing shows including Call the Midwife, Louis Theroux: Behind Bars and Medieval Murder Mysteries to the free-to-air audience.

Freesat viewers will be able to watch gripping history shows on Yesterday, some of Britain’s finest, critically-acclaimed drama content on Drama, and unbelievable real life stories on Really. As UKTV continues to invest heavily in new shows, there’s never been a better time to have access to our channels,” said UKTV’s CEO Darren Childs.

Freesat marketing director, Paul Gilshan said, “We are thrilled to boost our offering with the launch of three new entertainment channels from UKTV. More than 200 free-to-air TV channels, and more than 60 entertainment channels, are available on Freesat, ensuring viewers are spoilt for choice, without the monthly costs.”
