DTG publishes new installers’ guide
UK digital TV standards group the Digital Television Group (DTG) has published a new set of guidelines for Freeview and YouView aerial system installers at the request of Ofcom and the Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI).
The new guidelines, collected together in the DTG’s R-Book 6, includes advice on issues related to DVB-T2, the standard for digital-terrestrial delivery, local TV – following the government’s initiative to grant local TV licences in a number of UK cities – White Space and 700MHz clearance.
R-Book 6 has been produced by the DTG RF Working Group, led by the DTG’s Principal RF Engineer, Alex Buchan, and broadcast transmission and reception consultant Peter Barnett of the CAI. It is the first update to the R-Book series since 2005.
The complete R-Book 6 is available to download from the DTG and CAI websites, and will be accompanied by a quick reference field guide. This will be sponsored by Alltrade and distributed to the industry by Alltrade and the CAI.
“The television has undergone a technical transformation since 2005, including the migration from analogue services and the introduction of DVB-T2 technology,” said Alex Buchan, DTG principal RF engineer.
“By using R-Book 6, installers can ensure that they are fitting systems which meet their customers’ needs and will be ready for the changes we are expecting over the next five years.”
