Hispasat signs with ILS and SpaceX for launch services
Spanish satellite operator Hispasat has signed up with ILS and SpaceX to launch its forthcoming Amazonas 5 and Hispasat 1F satellites, which will go into orbit in 2017.
The agreement marks the first time Hispasat will work with SpaceX and its Falcon 9 rocket.
Hispasat 1F will be located at the 30 deg. West orbital position, replacing Hispasat 1D. It will provide additoinal Ku-band coverage over theAndes and Brazil and increase the group’s capacity for Transatlantic coverage, and give the operator additional Ka-band coverage over Europe.
Amazonas 1F will be located at 61 deg. West to meet growing demand for capacity from Latin America and Brazil.
