Sky extends Cisco deal for set-top middleware
Sky has extended its partnership with Cisco for set top box middleware solutions, in a bid to expand its products and services “to an even wider audience.”
As part of the extended deal, Sky will continue to use Cisco’s security portfolio that includes the newest evolution of the Cisco VideoGuard conditional access system (CAS) and digital rights management (DRM) solutions.
The two companies have a long-standing relationship working together on video entertainment services and announced in January that they are collaborating on the Sky AdSmart addressable TV advertising system, which includes components of Cisco’s cloud video portfolio.
“Our relationship with Cisco is critical to helping us realise our vision to accelerate time to market for the delivery of advanced entertainment services for our DTH subscribers that offer greater choice, convenience and control,” said Sky’s managing director of product design, Alun Webber.
Yvette Kanouff, senior vice president and general manager, service provider video software and solutions, Cisco, said: “We celebrate many great accomplishments with our longtime collaboration with Sky, together tackling the operational hurdles to drive their connected multiscreen initiatives, and move to a world of faster, better video anywhere.”
