Sky ups RTÉ output in Ireland
Sky has signed a long-term partnership with RTÉ, making more of the Irish public-service broadcaster’s channels and services available to Sky customers in Ireland.
Over the coming months, RTÉ’s catch-up service, RTÉ Player, will be available on demand via Sky, with RTÉ’s content to also be available on a variety of Sky services including tablets, smart phones and other digital devices.
At the same time, RTÉ News Now, RTÉ One + 1 and RTÉ One HD will soon also be available to Sky customers. Previously the RTÉ One and RTÉ2 channels were available on the Sky platform in Ireland.
“We are delighted to partner with RTÉ so that we can offer our customers more of their favourite shows across Sky’s platforms in ways that best suit their needs. The partnership with Ireland’s leading broadcaster confirms our commitment to providing quality content and increasing value to our subscribers,” said Sky Ireland’s managing director, JD Buckley.
Noel Curran, director-general, RTÉ, added: “It has been a key policy initiative for RTÉ in recent years that those services be available and distributed as widely as possible through key partnerships that recognise the value for both parties.”
