Albanian telco adopts Telekom brand
Deutsche Telekom-owned Albanian telco Albanian Mobile Telecommunications has rebranded as Telekom Albania, making it the 12th European operator to adopt its parent company’s branding.
Albanian Mobile Communications is owned by Deutsche Telekom via Greek subsidiary OTE. Its rebranding follows that of Romtelecom, also owned by OTE, as Telekom Romania.
The telco was originally created as a state-owned mobile operator in 1995. The company entered the fixed-line business in 2011, becoming the second fixed-line operator after Albtelecom.
Telekom Albania will adopt the slogan “Caste qe na Lidhin” or “Moments that bind us” as part of the rebranding exercise.
The rebranding of the Albanian operation will be followed by the launch of new services, including LTE 4G mobile. The company was awarded a 4G licence in March.
