BBC Earth launching in Latin America
BBC Worldwide is launching its factual channel BBC Earth in Latin America in September.
Earth is one of the new three-strong core of channel brands from BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the UK public broadcaster. It is rolling out the brand, alongside drama offering BBC First and fact-ent service BBC Brit. Earth is the factual and natural history offering in the new channel line-up.
Worldwide will launch it as a linear service across Lat-Am. It did not specify all of its platform partners, but said that it will reach millions of viewers in the region.
Paul Dempsey, president for global markets, BBC Worldwide said: “Latin American viewers are very interested in getting to know the world we are living in. The region’s audience will find the best natural history programming in the world on a single channel from now on.”
BBC Earth first rolled out in Poland where it debuted last year. It has subsequently launched in the Nordics, CEE and Turkey.
Worldwide said that in Latin America, the channel will be available in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador , Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
