Amazon debuts latest kids originals
As its push into original kids content deepens, Amazon Prime Instant Video has unveiled its latest pilot slate for children.
On June 26 four animated pilots and two live-action shows from Amazon Studios will debut to Amazon VOD subscribers in the US, UK and Germany. Those that rate well with kids and parents will be taken to series.
The animated shows are Lost in Oz, an action adventure series featuring characters from The Wizard of Oz, from Mark Warshaw and Darin Mark; Lily the Unicorn, which comes from The Jim Henson Company; Bear in Underwear, which is based on Todd Goldman’s books about the hijinks of a forest bear with a slightly skewed point of viewer; and The Adventures of Knickerbock Teetertop, a series from Adam Wilson and Melanie Wilson LaBracio.
On the live-action front is A History of Radness, which follows “the authentic experience of aspiring musicians forming their band” and comes from Hanna Montana’s Andrew Green; and The Kicks, based on Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan’s book series and about a female star American Football player who overhauls her new school’s poor team.
All the new pilots target 6-11s apart from The Adventures of Knickerbock Teetertop, which is for preschoolers.
Previous Amazon pilots seasons have led to the commission of shows such as Tumble Leaf.
