TDC expanding IPTV outside Denmark with Alcatel-Lucent
Danish telco TDC is expanding its delivery of IPTV-based television services outside of its home market into Norway, in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent.
TDC will make new services available to customers of Norwegian internet service provider NextGenTel, with Alcatel using its experience in IP video systems integration to extend TDC’s existing Mediaroom platform into the country.
Alcatel, which is the sole supplier of IPTV services for TDC, said that the Danish firm will also be able to extend its wholesale business into other markets in the future “to meet growing demands for video.”
“Video is the in-demand service for consumers and they do not want to compromise on quality. We are pleased to continue our long working relationship with Alcatel-Lucent to help us quickly expand our high-quality video service offer to customers in other markets to satisfy growing demand,” said TDC’s vice president of TV, Jacob Zentio Larsen.
Willem Hendrickx, Alcatel-Lucent’s president of Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “We have been working with TDC for almost 10 years to help them deliver an exceptional video experience to their customers. This agreement extends our relationship and highlights our commitment to helping customers like TDC innovate with new revenue-generating services that unleash the value within their networks.”
Last week, Alcatel-Lucent announced that it will provide 100 gigabit-per-second optical networking technology to Telecom Italia so the operator can deliver “ultra-broadband” internet and TV services.
