Mixed results for Telenor Broadcast
Telenor Broadcast saw a year-on-year fall in revenues for the first quarter of this year thanks to the impact of the sale of conditional access division Conax and lower DTH and satellite revenues. Overall, the Broadcast division saw turnover slide from NOK1.893 million to NOK1.53 million for the quarter.
Telenor Broadcast-owned DTH service Canal Digital posted revenues of NOK1.114 billion for the first quarter of this year, down slightly on the NOK1.128 billion it recorded for the same period last year. Canal Digital lost 7,000 subscribers in the quarter, and the DTH arm was also hit by lower hardware sales, partly offset by price increases and currency effects.
Telenor Satellite Broadcasting, the group’s satellite arm, posted revenues of NOK244 million for the quarter, down from NOK239 million, mostly due to currency effects.
Transmission services arm Norkring posted a modest increase in revenues of NOK5 million to NOK288 million.
Telenor Broadcast’s EBITDA before other items dropped from NOK511 million to NOK457 million, mostly due to the impact of the sale of Conax, while operating profit slid from NOK1.583 billion to NOK326 million.
