French regulator reveals IPTV and ultra-fast broadband numbers
France had 15.378 million TV-over-DSL subscribers at the end of last year, up 5.2% on the previous year’s figure, according to the latest study by telecom regulator ARCEP.
The figures mean that TV-over-DSL accounted for two thirds of subscriptions to a TV service in France at the end of 2014, up from 60% in 2012 and 65% in 2013.
According to ARCEP, there were 22.857 million broadband subscribers in France at the end of last year, flat year-on-year, of which DSL subscribers accounted for 22.383 million.
Ultra-fast broadband customers – those with access to 30Mbps or above – numbered 3.113 million at the end of 2014, including 893,000 had access to speeds in excess of 100Mbps.
Ultra-fast cable broadband subscribers numbered 933,000, or two thirds of the ultra-fast category as a whole.
