Tricolor TV renews Paramount content deal
Russian pay TV operator Tricolor TV has renewed a licensing agreement with Paramount Pictures that will see a raft of recent movies distributed to Russian viewers for the first time, alongside Paramount catalogue titles.
Among the new titles to be made available to subscribers on the KinoPremium HD channel from the SuperKino HD package are Transformers: Age of Extinction on March 7 and on March 21 the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Tricolor’s Semeynoe HD and Ostrosujetnoe HD services will meanwhile offer subscribers movies including Forrest Gump, The Usual Suspects and Saving Private Ryan as well as animated kids movies from DreamWorks animation including How To Train Your Dragon, Shrek Forever After and Megamind.
All films will be broadcast in Full HD format.
In November, Tricolor cut the prices of the SuperKino HD services from RUB5,400 to RUB3,100 and introduced quarterly and monthly subscription options. It has also made its KinoPremium HD, Ostrosujetnoe HD, Semeynoe HD and Nashe HD packages available for RUB99 a month or RUB900 a year.
“Today we are facing a 15-20% overall content purchase cost reduction in the industry as well as a lesser share of foreign content on Russian TV channels”, says Arsen Khomutov, Tricolor TV channel production director. “Despite the market crisis, Tricolor TV intends to maintain the premium level of its movie channels. Paramount Pictures has been creating the best movie content for over a century, and we value working with this company.”
