Scripps appoints former Discovery exec Bellini
Scripps Networks Interactive has appointed former Discovery executive Barbara Bellini to head up the operational side of its programme distribution division.
Bellini becomes vice-president of commercial affairs and operations, programme distribution, international, and will report to Scripps Networks International’s chief financial officer, Simone Nardi.
The lifestyle and entertainment channel operator took its programme sales function back in house late last year, Passion Distribution had been handling sales, and part of Bellini’s role will be content sales.
Based in London, Bellini will help to expand Scripps’ programme distribution business and to manage international division programming deals – including the structuring of international programming deals and managing the content pipeline.
She will work alongside Hud Woodle who was appointed SNI’s New York-based vice president, international programme licensing and distribution.
“As we continue to grow Scripps Networks’ presence internationally, we are creating a team dedicated to expanding our reach around the world,” said Nardi.
“Barbara’s extensive industry experience in international programming and rights management, along with her excellent negotiation skills and market savvy, will further strengthen our talented international team.”
Bellini brings 20 years of experience to the role. Prior to joining Scripps Networks, she held consulting roles at Channel 4 in the UK and A+E Networks. Before that she was senior vice president of business affairs, acquisitions and programming at Discovery Networks International, and has also held senior roles at National Geographic TV International and Channel 4 International.
