Ipla secures big audience for OTT-only drama
Polish OTT TV provider Ipla, owned by Cyfrowy Polsat, attracted a total audience of 2.75 million for the second season of homegrown drama Na Krawędzi (On the Edge 2), which it debuted online. Each episode in the series attracted an average audience of over 200,000, with most users viewing on the show on PCs.
The first two episodes of Na Krawędzi 2 were made available free of charge with the remaining episodes available for a season pass, individually or through subscription to an Ipla film package. Cyfrowy Polsat customers received the whole series free of charge.
The first series of the show was aired by commercial channel Polsat, but the company decided against commissioning a second run.
Beata Białkowska, marketing director at Cyfrowy Polsat and Polkomtel, said that the company would definitely consider airing other series online first.
