Cyfrowy Polsat reports TV gains
Polish pay TV operator Cyfrowy Polsat provided 4.34 million active pay TV services, including over 0.8 million multiroom services, in the third quarter, up 4.4% year-on-year.
Reporting results for the three and nine months ending September 30, Polsat claimed a TV audience share of 24.1% in Q3, up 11.9% year-on-year, across its channel portfolio – including its flagship Polsat channel and thematic channels such as Polsat News and Polsat Sport.
In the quarter, it also said it captured 26.3% of the Polish TV advertising market, up 9.1% year-on-year, accounting for approximately PLN753 million.
Currently, Cyfrowy Polsat provides access to more than 140 Polish language TV channels, including more than 40 in HD. These include all of Poland’s main terrestrial channels as well as general entertainment, sports, music, lifestyle, news, children’s, education and movie channels.
Polsat also offers access to more than 40 HD channels and provides VoD, online TV, catch-up TV and Multrioom HD services.
Its online service Ipla notched up an average 3.6 million users per month in the quarter. Ipla offers some 1,500 films and more than 100 TV series, 36 live TV channels and around 200 hours of HD live sports coverage per month.
Overall in the quarter Polsat reported revenues of PLN2.42 billion (€579.4 million), up from PLN677.3 million in the same quarter last year. However, net profit was down at PLN48.1 million, compared to PLN176.4 million in Q3 2013.
