Tubefilter survey reveals MCN viewership rankings
YouTube games channels have become big business, with the hundred top sites attracting close to 4.4 billion views last month, according to industry site Tubefilter, using data from OpenSlate.
Felix Kjellberg’s PewDiePie retained its number one slot in the Tubefilter Top 100, despite a 13% month-on-month decline in views. PewDiePie, who is part of Maker Studios’ multichannel network (MCN), scored 392.1 million views in September.
Stampylonghead came second in the list. UK-based, like Kjellberg, Stampylonghead also dropped month-on-month, by 13% to 189.7 million views.
Third place went to Spain-based Vegetta777, who rose one spot to take third place with 164 million views.
Maker Studios remained the leading MCN, with 22 channels in the top 100 including market leader PewDiePie, followed by Machinima, with 17 channels, led by number five-placed VanossGaming.
Other leading MCNs included BroadbandTV with eight channels in the top 100, and Fullscreen and OmniaMedia with seven each.
The US accounted for 42 of the top 100 channels, followed by the UK with 14, Brazil and Spain with six each, Japan with five, and Canada and Ukraine with four each.
