Setanta Sports expands into the Baltics
Setanta Sports has launched its Setanta Sport Eurasia channel in Estonia on STV, with plans to launch in Lithuania shortly.
The news comes just days after the sports broadcaster also went live in the third Baltic state of Latvia, via cable operator Baltcom.
The expansion into the Baltics builds on Setanta Sports Eurasia’s existing footprint in Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“With the co-operation with our distribution agent Wide Media, we are happy to bring good news to Estonian and Latvian sports-fans, that they have now access to top-sport events. We have successfully launched channels into the surrounding territories and believe these markets and a natural extension for our business,” said Dwyer Mccaughley, CEO of Setanta Sport Eurasia.
Setanta Sports offers a range of live sports such as football coverage of La Liga, Italian Seria A, French Ligue 1, FA Cup, Capital One Cup and more recently exclusive UEFA Euro 2016 qualification rounds. The channel broadcasts up to 400 live football matches per season across its channel.
From this month, Setanta will also start exclusively airing NHL ice hockey. Viewers can also watch UFC, French rugby, Formula E racing and World Championship boxing.
At the same time, Belarus service provider MTIS has added Setanta Sports+ HD and Russian music and entertainment channel 9 Volna to its digital TV service in test mode.
