Netflix reportedly growing fast in France
Netflix has attracted over 100,000 users in France two weeks after it launched, according to daily Le Figaro.
The figure represents users taking advantage of Netflix’s initial offer of one month free of charge for the service. From mid October, users will be charged between €7.99 and €11.99 depending on the package they sign up to.
According to Le Figaro, Netflix’s performance compares favourably with pay TV leader Canal+’s rival CanalPlay service, which currently has 520,000 subscribers, three years after its launch, representing a subscriber acquisition rate of about 15,000 a month.
Netflix is currently available via a range of retail devices in France but from mid-November it will also be available via Bouygues Telecom’s TV boxes, enabling it to target a wider range of TV viewers.
