UPC Cablecom acquires three networks

Liberty Global-owned Swiss cable operator UPC Cablecom has acquired 100% control of Komtech Group, holding company of three cable networks in eastern Switzerland. 

The move gives UPC Cablecom control of Telekabel Arbon AG, Schefer AG and Grischa Vision AG, collectively serving 23,000 customers in the Oberthurgau, Rorschach and Graubünden regions.

UPC Cablecom said that it would upgrade the three entworks to deliver internet and phone services to the groups’ customers in the future.

From January 1 2015 a range of services will be offered including free internet access, a telephone connection and a free light version of the MyPrime online video library with 1,000 films, series, children’s programmes and documentaries that can be accessed via the Horizon Go app and the Internet.

UPC Cablecom has accelerated its efforts to acquire and integrate local operators in recent months. The three networks owned by Komtech have been Cablecom partners for some time, the operator said.
