Verimatrix introduces VCAS Ultra

Content security specialist Verimatrix has unveiled the profile of VCAS Ultra, its next-generation Video Content Authority System (VCAS) architecture.

VCAS Ultra will offer operators multi-network revenue security with the flexibility and scalability to meet future growth, according to Verimatrix.

The system is designed to capitalise on the trend towards IP- and software-based technologies as the future of pay-TV service delivery.

Verimatrix said that VCAS Ultra will allow pay TV operators to take advantage of the move to cardless security solutions while preparing for new premium service delivery for UHD/4K content.

VCAS Ultra will include: content security profiles to meet MovieLabs’ ultra high definition service requirements; support for cloud system integrations; support for HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and MPEG-DASH; and enhanced monitoring architecture to enable actionable analytics.

The system features backward compatibility with current generations of the VCAS platform to make upgrading easy, and has been designed to work with today’s prevalent broadcast-hybrid, IPTV and OTT network configurations.

“The introduction of UHD services, combined with more pervasive IP and hybrid network services, will push operators to re-think their security strategy in order to optimise revenue security while reducing operational costs,” said Petr Peterka, CTO, Verimatrix.

“A harmonised revenue security architecture, such as VCAS Ultra, enables the deployment of a transparent security regime across all the network and device types that subscribers demand.”
