MultiChoice taps Net Insight for campus network

South African pay TV operator MultiChoice has chosen Net Insight to provide its Nimbra product to expand its campus network.

MultiChoice will use Net Insight’s Nimbra solution to bring its recently established back-up facility into full operation, making it possible for them to serve additional areas and provide business continuity for its primary transmission site in Randburg. The inter-campus network will be fully integrated into MultiChoice’s existing Nimbra-based network, enabling the company to connect its pay TV operation centres to provide lossless compression when transporting high-definition TV services in real-time. The solution will also address the challenges of back-up, disaster recovery and business continuity, as well as the opportunity to up-scale services in different locations in the future, according to Net Insight.

The order was won in partnership with GDS Technologies, Net Insight’s partner in Sub-Saharan Africa.

At IBC, Net Insight intends to debut its solution for 8K UHDTV signals to be transported over available IP infrastructure.
