Forthnet taps Irdeto for DTH upgrade

Greek pay TV operator Forthnet has tapped content security specialist Irdeto to provide conditional access for its Nova DTH service in parallel with its migration to new DVB-S2-based, HD and MPEG-4-capable set-tops. 

Forthnet is using Irdeto Media Protection to secure the DTH service following a swap out of its boxes. The group claims to have put an iend to all control word distribution piracy and established a 100% secure base.

Irdeto is supplying its secure chipset-based solution to Forthnet, which it says prevents control word redistribution and device software tampering. The new Nova TV boxes are internet connected to enable new web-based services.
