Akado deploys cardless CA via CI+
Russian cable operator Akado has begun deploying cardless conditional access from Verimatrix using CI+ modules.
The move means that viewers with compatible TV sets can slot a cardless CAM into their TVs to view Akado’s digital TV services.
China’s SMiT last month announced that it had become the first CAM manufacturer to secure Verimatrix certification for its advanced cardless CI+ CAM.
The move enables operators such as Akado to avoid the need to pair CAMs with smartcards, thus reducing costs wihile maintaining a high level of content security. The CAM complies with the CI+ 1.3 standard, enabling operators to support advances services including hybrid video-on-demand and catch-up TV.
Tattelecom, the leading operator in Tatarstan, is also deploying the cardless CAM along with Akado.
