London Live calls for reduction of local content requirements
UK local TV station London Live has requested an amendment to the obligations of its licence, including reductions to the hours of local content it must air.
The proposal, which was published by Ofcom on Friday, requests changes from ESTV – the provider of the local TV service London Live – that would also include changes to the type of programmes provided on the station.
London Live has called for the hours of local programming per day in peak-time, to be changed from three hours in year one and three and a half in years two, three and beyond of its operation to just one hour.
This would allow “different types of programming” to be broadcast in place of the local content.
Ofcom has opened a consultation on the request, with interested parties asked to respond by August 26.
