Freetime close to half of new Freesat box sales
UK free-to-air satellite platform Freesat has added an extra 24,000 new households in the first six months of the year, taking its total to 1.85 million homes in the UK.
Sales of Freesat’s Freetime boxes now account for 47% of all Freesat set-top box sales, after tripling in a single year.
Freesat has also enhanced its TV Guide and Remote Record App offering by adding an Android version to its existing iOS app, which has already seen more than 220,000 downloads since it launched earlier in the year.
Emma Scott, Freesat’s managing director, said: “I’m constantly encouraged by the number of people that are switching away from paying for their TV every month to join Freesat which is subscription free. Our good start to the year has continued into the second quarter and the mixture of great programming, brilliant features and no monthly bills is proving to be a very compelling proposition.”
