Google Play Movies launches in Ireland
Google has launched films to rent and buy on its online entertainment store, Google Play, for the first time in Ireland.
As of yesterday, Google said that consumers in Ireland will be able to rent and purchase new-release movies in high definition and standard definition from major international film studios and independent distributors.
At launch, titles like Captain Phillips, The Hangover 3 and The Great Gatsby will be available to own for prices ranging from €4.99 to €7.99.
“We’ve listened to our users and worked closely with key partners in the film industry to bring Google Play Movies to Ireland,” said Ben Serridge, product manager for Google Play.
“Google Play offers new release movies and classic films for rent or purchase and you can watch on the device of your choice, from an Android tablet to an iPhone. Start watching a movie on your computer, and pick up where you left off on your tablet.”
With the movies launch, Google said that Google Play in Ireland becomes a “one-stop-shop” for apps and digital entertainment. The store already offers apps, games, music, books and now films.
