Hispasat chooses SSL for new satellite
Spanish satellite operator Hispasat has contracted Space Systems/Loral to build its new Hispasat 1F satellite, to be located at its 30° West position.
Hispasat 1F will serve as a replacement for Hispasat 1D and will give the Group additional Ku-band capacity in the Andean region and in Brazil.
Hispasat 1F will expand the Group’s transatlantic capacity in Europe to America and America to Europe connectivity. Ka-band capacity with European coverage will be incorporated, in order to enable Hispasat to continue expanding its broadband service offer in the region.
The satellite’s 48 Ku-band transponders will cover three areas – Europe and North Africa, the Americas excluding Brazil, and South America, with a focus on Brazil.
Six Ka-band transponders will cover the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic and Canary Islands, North West Africa and South East and Central Europe, while one Ka- BSS beam will cover the Iberian peninsula and a C-band beam will cover Brazil.
