Poland’s Ipla to debut new drama online
Cyfrowy Polsat’s OTT platform Ipla is to premiere new Polish crime drama series Na krawędzi 2 (On the Edge 2) two months ahead of its debut on linear TV.
The first episode of the latest season of the drama will be made available to Ipla users on July 1 and further episodes will be released on a weekly basis. The series will be aired on parent broadcaster Polsat’s main channel in September
Cyfrowy Polsat programming director Nina Terentiew said that Na krawędzi was the highest rated original crime series in Poland in recent years, reaching almost 2.6 million viewers.
Cyfrowy Polsat marketing director Beata Białkowska said that the company had decided to follow the model set by Netflix with House of Cards in making the first showing of the series available online only.
Cyfrowy Polsat subscribers will be able to watch the show free of charge by logging onto the paltform. Users of Ipla only will have access to the first two episodes freeof charge, after which they will have a choice of paying PLN9.90 (€2.40) to watch the entire series or paying PLN4.90 to watch individual episodes.
