Dutch broadcasters team up to launch SVoD service
A new Dutch subscription video-on-demand service, NLziet, has launched, with a range of programmes from local public and commercial broadcasters available for €7.95 a month.
The service is available on the web and to iOS and Android devices.
NLziet is backed by Dutch public broadcaster NPO and commercial broadcasters RTL and SBS, all of whom have already launched their own online video offerings. The new service will be provided alongside NPO Plus, RTL XL and Kijk van SBS. The new SVoD service will not provide access to live content.
NLziet is offering one month’s subscription free of charge as a promotional offer and there is no minimum subscription period for paying customers.
The service is currently available to 10,000 users who pre-registered and will be made available to all from July 1.
NLziet chief executive Niels Baas said that the service would offer a better range of content than rival SVoD services Netflix and Videoland.
