Wananchi extends Verimatrix security deal
The Wananchi Group is extending its partnership with content security specialist Verimatrix, ahead of the launch of OTT video services from its East African pay TV operator Zuku TV.
Since 2010, Wananchi-owned Zuku has used Verimatrix’s cardless Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for DVB solution to secure its DTH satellite TV services, and subsequently extended this so VCAS also protects revenues for Zuku’s digital cable services.
Under the extended partnership, Verimatrix will secure Zuku TV revenues across DTH satellite, digital cable and IP-over-GPON networks, and from later this year via OTT video services.
“Playing an important role in securing the future of the Zuku brand with its planned OTT services, Verimatrix is supplying Wananchi with an innovative, multi-network content security platform. Moreover, the company has proactively executed integration activities with other ecosystem partners, including Harmonic, Great Lakes Data Systems (GLDS), Technicolor and Castlenet,” said Verimatrix.
Wananchi Group CEO Richard Alden added: “The best-of-breed VCAS security solution provides robust revenue protection for Zuku TV at all points of the value chain, helping us achieve our multi-network ambitions while also providing our customers with access to the content of their choice.”
Verimatrix is exhibiting at ANGA COM in hall 10.1, booth M10.
